 A CASE STUDY OF POWER HOLDING COMPANY ENUGU ZONAL OFFICE


Branch (1975;12) was of the view that productivity means the continuing improvement of the firm management performance in the use of resources and though the operations it is conducted.
However the purpose of this work highlights those factors responsible for low productivity among Nigerian workers.

The research tends to focus on those means that will be applied to get workers committed to tier work using effective national tool to enhance and increase productivity level of the public organization “power holding company of Nigeria” as the study. Data were collected from both primary and secondary sources, the analysis of the research brought out a population size used to determine the basis for the information gathered and analyzed.

The use of percentage help to further the test of the data analyzed. The findings of the research observed by the help of questionnaires and interviews embarked upon as the factors responsible for the low productivity of Nigerian workers

AN EVALUATION OF THE IMPACT OF SUPERVISION AND CONTROL OF THE CENTRAL BANK ON THE PERFORMANCE OF COMMERCIAL BANKS





This research project tends to evaluate the impact of supervision and control of the Central Bank on the performance of commercial banks. Access Bank Nig Plc Lagos Branch was used as the case study. To aid this research both primary and secondary data were collected. The instruments  used  to  collect  data  are  questionnaires  and  oral interviews. The respondents comprised of male and female from the bank and the population put together is 150 and sample size is 109. The research design used for this work is the survey research method. In  the  course  of  this  research  the  researcher  found  out  that supervisory and control functions when conducted on a timely and unbiased manner ensures capital adequacy, high standard of conduct, moderation  of  bank  charges  and  profitability.  The  researcher recommends that bank inspections should continue to be regular and timely  enough;  control  measures  of  the  CBN  should  not  be  too stringent  as  to  have  long  negative  impact  on  banking  operations. Finally only competent, skilled and unbiased bank examiners should be engaged in bank supervision.

The topic of this research is Analysis of the Impact of Effective Communication in  Increasing  Organizational  Productivity.  A  case  study  of  the  Nigerian Breweries Plc, Amaeke, Ngwo, Enugu, Enugu State. The researcher used survey design for the study. The population of the study was eight hundred and ninety- nine (899) employee of the company, with sample size of one hundred and thirty-three (133). The researcher used both the primary and secondary sources of data in the course of the study. The primary data were collected through the instrument of questionnaire and observation. The secondary data were collected from text books, journals, magazine, newspapers, and libraries.

The research finding revealed that communication breakdown has effect in the management of  an  organization  which  results  in  low  productivity.  The  researcher recommended among other management should continue to keep in touch with the workers on new development in the organization.

APPLICATION OF MARKETING CONTROL TECHNIQUES IN MANUFACTURING FIRMS IN ENUGU L.G.A OF ENUGU STATE


(A CASE STUDY OF EMENITE LIMITED EMENE ENUGU STATE)

The topics of this research work are the application of marketing control techniques in manufacturing firms in Enugu east local government:   A case study of Emenite Limited Emene Enugu. In order to peruse this investigation property, the following research objectives were formulated namely:  To investigate to what extent manufacturing firms have forma plans for their activities. To determine whether the application of marketing control has any effect on the achievement of the corporate goals and objectives of their organizations.  To find out the specific areas where the application off marketing control are necessary, etc.   The researcher adopted the survey technical in carrying out this research work.

A total number of one hundred and eighty (180) respondents formed the population of this study. This number was however statistically reduced to a sample of one hundred and twenty four (124) respondents using the Yaro Yamane sample size formula. The data were gathered mainly through questionnaires, interviews and direct observation. A total number of one hundred and twenty four (124) questionnaires were printed and distributed to the selected respondent but only one hundred and two (102) of such questionnaires were properly filled and returned and final analysis was based on this figure.  To analyze data collected, the researcher made use of simple percentage as well as tables.   Based on the analysis, the researcher discovered among other that:  Apart from the other control, techniques, sales analysis, market share analysis, marketing audit and profitability checks are the most frequently used techniques in Emenite Limited Enugu.  

The Female workers at Emenite Limited is fewer in number than the male counterparts. This should be employed. Emenite Limited does not sell their product to customers directly but make use of middlemen in the distribution of their products, etc. Based on these findings, the researchers recommended among other that  Emenite limited should Endeavour to sustain its current effort to apply marketing control system in their operations. Apart from the techniques. Listed above, the company should try new ones like ratio analysis, sales variance, etc. Emenite should revisit their employment policy to create room for more woman to be employed. Emenite should open an avenue for customer to buy some of their products directly. Conclusively, the importance of applying marketing controls in manufacturing firm cannot be overemphasized; and the goals of the company will be achieved if the recommendations made are utilized.

Multinational Corporation is now globally accepted business firms which have adopted various cultures and take responsibility for her host community socially. The appraisal of multinational corporation to the contribution of community development became necessary to evaluate the extend of exploration carried out by  multinational  corporations  in  Nigeria.  A  review  of  related  literature  was carried out to give the study. The required theoretical background, available statistics from the natural population commission indicate that Eket community have an estimate of one thousand six hundred and ten people (101,610) and the sample size is made up of hundred respondents (100),the method employed in collecting data was the questionnaire. (4) Four hypotheses were formulated and tested  for  the  study  using  simple  percentage  (%)  statistical  method  of  data analysis, on the basis of the analyses some findings were recorded as follows: It was discovered that the multinational corporation rather abuse human right and pollute environment instead of developing the host community. Following the findings recorded some useful recommendation were proffered for the resolution of the problems identified in the study. It suggested that in order to make the people fell statistical; the firm has to provide much to the needs they want. To also widen the scope of here social responsibility to provide employment and hasten community development. It is concluded that is the law of the land is not properly put into use; Multinational Corporation will not contribute towards the development of her host community.

A questionnaire was designed and distributed to elicit information from the sample population; also data was sourced through primary and secondary sources. These data collected were presented and analyzed by means of tables and percentages. The hypotheses adduced were tested using such tools as chi-square  test.

Employees will be expecting to earn higher so as to sustain their living while the management will be expecting employee to work had so as to see that the objectives of the organization  is  realized.  Organizational  behaviour  is  more  or  less  a  pure psychology attached to the institutional companies and applicable to achieve organisational goals. It constitutes the activities of an organisation that can be observed by another organisation or by experimental instruments. The research work will focus on the leadership and effects of leadership style, appraisal and organisational behaviour of management and employees. The work is made up of five chapters. In the first chapter we will discuss about the general ideas of leadership,  organisational  behaviour  and  its  effects  on  management  and employee. In the second chapter we shall look into the literature review, we shall look into various authors who have researched on the leadership styles, appraisal  and  organisational  behaviour  of  management  and  employees.  In chapter three, we will present research methodology while chapter four will be presentation of data analysis. We shall also interpret the data and test the hypothesis  and  finally,  chapter  five  will  be  summaries,  findings  and recommendation.

Human resoruce management in the hotel and catering industry A study of royal palace hotel enugu




The topic of the study is Human Resource Management in Hotel and Catering industry (A case study of Royal Palace Hotel Enugu). The researcher used both the primary and secondary data in the course of the study. The primary data was collected through the instrument of questionnaires and observation. The secondary data was sources through textbooks, journals, magazines and Libraries.

The research design for the study was the survey research. The population of the study was 82 employees of the establishment. The sample size of the study was 63 employees derived using the Yaro Yamani formula for the determination of sample size. A total number of 63 questionnaires were distributed and returned thereby having a hundred percent return rate. The researcher used sample percentage and chi-square as statistical tool for the analysis.
The study revealed that the majority of the workers in this establishment are ignorant on pay determination method which shows that management does not involve workers in the machinery or the mechanics of payment determination. The workers role is reduced to that of a rigid adherence to rules and regulations.

The researcher recommended among others that broad personnel policy study be embraced by employers in the hotel industry.

DESIGN AND FABRICATION OF MAIZE CORN-ON-COB TRAY DRYER


This study was carried out to generate a design data, design and fabricate a maize corn-on-cob tray dryer used by maize farmers. Ripped maize corns with husks were bought from the market and preserved to retained its moisture content, dehusked and thereafter, dried to a given percentage moisture content of 15%. This was done by laboratory dryer. The drying rate data was generated and the high rate of 2.0g/hr was used afterwards to design and fabricate the corn-on-cob dryer. From the results, drying of a sample of maize corn-on-cob by the laboratory dryer took a period of three days and six hours to reach the moisture content (wet basis) needed.

A test run was carried out on the fabricated dryer and seventeen hours was used to dry a sample of maize corn- on-cob to the same 15% moisture content. This implies that design data is satisfactory as its application in the fabrication of the dryer resulted in an increased flow rate of air in the dryer thereby increasing the rate of drying at the same drying temperature of 40o C.

The impact of management incentive policies on worker?s productivity. The place of good management incentive policies on employee?s productivity cannot be over emphasized. Most incentives plans are designed to help increase efficiency in the organization. However, obtaining employee?s acceptance of incentive system may be difficult at the onset. This research has been necessitated by the need of raise awareness of practitioners and the employers of labour to the need of high productivity through good incentive policies. The researcher?s search light was beamed on several theories of incentive usefulness and purpose of a good incentive policy in an organization. Problems associated with individual incentive plans were also enumerated with a view to providing solutions to those problems in form of recommendations, which is that the management should concentrate more on individual incentive scheme whereby reward will be based on individual effort. Organizations have divergent policies on incentive, but towards what extent has these packages improve productivity? This research work is significantly useful as a reference point for subsequent researches and more useful to every organization that that desires to achieve high productivity. The descriptive research was adopted, while both primary and secondary source of data were explored. The population of the study was 187 and the sample size is 127 by using Yaro Yamane method. The study revealed that good incentive polices motivate workers, motivated workers are happy workers and happy workers are productive workers. The study also revealed that a monetary incentive is essential in getting workers to perform better. However, money is not everything for other factors are equally important.

As It Happened: IGP Idris finally appears before Senate over allegations
The Inspector-General of the Nigeria Police Force (IGP), Ibrahim Idris, on Wednesday refused to address the Senate panel convened to investigate a series of allegations leveled against him by Senator Isa Misau. Mr. Idris’ lawyer, Alex Iziyon, spoke for him throughout the hearing. The IGP had earlier refused to appear before the committee but announced on November 3 that he would appear before it on November 8. While he made good on his promise to appear before the Senator Francis Alimikhena-led committee, Mr. Idris did not speak throughout the hearing, going as far as refusing to introduce himself to the panel. Addressing the committee on behalf of the IGP, Mr. Iziyon said, “'We have a very high respect for this committee; we do not have anything to hide, we have the papers filed by the petitioners and we have responded paragraph by paragraph. I have submitted 15 copies containing the response to the allegations to the Senate ad-hoc committee.” Senator Obinna Ogba, who represents Ebonyi Central, asked for more time to study the documents submitted by the counsel to the IGP, and set aside another day for further deliberations. The Chairman of the ad-hoc committee adjourned the meeting sine die to allow committee members review the document sent in by Mr. Idris. The Senate ad-hoc committee is investigating allegations against the police boss and the Police Service Commission (PSC). In August, Senator Misau leveled a series of corruption allegations against the Nigeria Police Force, alleging that the IGP steals about N10 billion monthly as internally generated revenue from policemen attached to private citizens and oil companies. Mr. Misau, while appearing before the Senate Committee on Ethics on October 25, made fresh allegations against Mr. Idris, one of which also indicted the wife of President Muhammadu Buhari, Mrs. Aisha Buhari. In the fresh allegation, the lawmaker accused the police boss of favoritism in the promotion and appointment of Commissioners of Police and also alleged that he purchased two sports utility vehicles (SUVs) for Mrs. Buhari for personal use. Responding to the allegation, the first lady denied the claims in a tweet in which she said, “I am still using my personal cars.” Police spokesman Jimoh Moshood also denied the allegations against his boss, saying that Mr. Misau had no reasonable evidence to back his claims. “There is no tangible evidence in what he (Misau) has said to show that monies are being remitted to the police by oil companies, by private citizens, and by others, because the Nigeria Police is not an agency of government that generates revenue. “The issue of internally generated revenue being diverted in the police is null and void, it’s zero. So we don’t want him to use whatever he’s occupying now to cast aspersion on the integrity of the Nigeria Police Force,” Mr. Moshood said.
