STATISTICAL ANALYSIS OF SOME SELECTED FOOD ITEMS IN NIGERIA : Agriculture is the oldest and employed labour (Industry) in the world, particularly in Africa countries; they constituted a very large proportions of the continent economy in several aspects of life such as food for the nations, raw materials among others. The word Agriculture is derived from two Latin words Agric and Culture. Agric means fields and Culture means cultivation. A lot of scholars have defined agriculture based on their understanding. According to Pant Kofi 1972 in his book named “Basic Economic of West Africa”, he defined agriculture as a general term for product of activities that is growing of crops or rearing of animals and poultry farm. Another agriculturist defined agriculture as the cultivation of land for the purpose of producing food for man, feeds for animals and producing raw materials for our local industries as well as processing and making crops both internally and externally. Considering the factors affecting agriculture in Nigeria, this project is aimed at looking at the most serious problems biting and hindering the production of the selected food items.
